Nakhchivan Flag Square

Once you arrive in Nakhchivan, among the most commanding spots from which to behold the city is the Flag Square and Flag Museum. Established on 22 August 2014, opened on 17 November 2014, this modern complex unites in one place the state symbols of Azerbaijan and political memory of Nakhchivan.

Now, the flag of Azerbaijan is flown in the square, which is 20×10 meters in size, while the flagpole is 57 meters high. Its hilltop position means you can admire both the giant flag rising into the sky and the view of Nakhchivan spread out beneath your feet. In short, this is a “peak” stop, for photography as well as for emotional enjoyment.

This building is octagonal and designed around the flagpole at its center. The entire architecture is designed around “state symbols” and the idea of ​​independence. We recommend that at least 60-90 minutes should be devoted to a full exploration of Flag Square and the museum. If you want to see the panoramic view and go through all the exhibition texts in chronological sequence, you can add one to two hours to the tour.
