    Tasty Lunch Included

It is the cool of the stone, the soft touch of light that gives you a dignified welcome the very moment you step into Nakhchivan. The calm breath rising from the wide boulevards slows the pace of your journey; in a low tone, the memory speaks to you.

Upon entering the Mausoleum of Mömüne Hatun, you feel the measured pride of its dodecagonal form on your shoulders. The warm color of the brick and the delicate lines of the Kufic script slowly move your look upwards to draw you into a timeless elegance.

The scale shrinks, the density intensifies next door at the Mausoleum of Yusuf ibn Kuseyir; the plainness of the stone implies a quiet attention. Shadow and light converge at the door, and lasting impressions, not photos, gather in your pocket.

In the serene setting of Han Palace, the museum reveals to you the layers where the administrative and the everyday intertwine. As you walk through the courtyard, the traces left on the window sills remind you of the human voice left behind by the passing ceremonies.

The smoky warmth of tandır kebab and the refreshing touch of şorba come together in harmony on the palate at lunchtime. For those who wish, as the evening falls, tar and kaval in a live music venue add a serene rhythm to the day’s images; weariness gives way to sweet relaxation. At the end, you enter the city market, lured by copper plates and bright-colored stalls, while tasting fruit pulp, Turkish delight, walnuts, and almonds. You learn to decipher the silent language of knots at the Carpet Museum and Open Air Museum-the smell of wool stuck on your fingers, a tenuous bond with Nakhchivan that will last for ages.

Wi-Fi and a charging station are readily available in the vehicle. Before moving on to the first stops, we’ll share Nakhchivan’s historical background and highlight the day’s content.

City Panorama and Photo Stop

At 9:00 AM, we’ll visit the Mausoleum of Mömüne Hatun. We’ll read the brickwork and inscriptions lining the dodecagonal structure. We explain the facade proportions, Seljuk craftsmanship, and the details of the monument’s restoration in simple language. We give you free time in the courtyard; your guide will be there to guide you through the details and provide you with photo opportunities.

Yusif bin Kuseyir Tomb

After the Mümine Hatun Tomb, we move on to the Yusuf bin Kuseyir Tomb, a more compact example of mastery. Here, we begin a brief architectural discussion on stonemasonry, interior lighting, and symbolic elements. At the end of the visit, we outline the stylistic bridges that could be built between the two tombs on note cards; we return the cards to you at the end of the tour.

Han Palace (Museum)

We arrive at the Han Palace at 11:00. We take you from the palace courtyard to the interior. In the exhibition rooms, we layer by layer, presenting administrative traditions, daily life, and craftsmanship. Our guide uses a chronological chart for the works in the glass cases. Using the light falling from the windows, we mark the most suitable areas for photography. We take a short break in the museum store and provide guidance on publications and replicas.

Lunch

At 12:30 PM, we host you at a local restaurant. Tandoori kebab, stone-oven bread, and frankincense-scented soup are served to share. Vegetarians can choose from tandoori vegetables and legumes. Drinks include ayran and strong tea. Our guide explains the origins of the ingredients and cooking techniques; if you wish, you can take a short tour of the oven.

Noah's Tomb

After our lunch break, we turn our route to layers of faith and narrative and visit the Tomb of Noah. Our guide shares the reflections of the flood narrative in the region, the tomb’s symbolic location, and architectural details with balanced language. We reserve time for prayer and contemplation for those who wish. On our way out, we stop at a convenient spot for a panoramic view.

Carpet Museum

At 14:30 PM, we visit the Carpet Museum. We take you through a rich collection exploring knot density, dyeing techniques, and the vocabulary of motifs. Our guide conducts a mini-workshop on “motif reading.” We demonstrate ram’s horn, tree of life, and geometric patterns on hand cards. We see the weaving loom in person and listen to a short presentation from the master. In the museum shop, we explain each unique product individually, including its size, quality, and price.

Open Air Museum

At 15:30 PM, we proceed to the Open Air Museum. We take a guided walk through the open area, amidst stone artifacts, traditional buildings, and examples of craftsmanship. We time photo breaks in shaded areas and offer water. Our guide explains the relationship between building materials, climate, and lifestyles with insightful examples. The walking route is planned with attention to obstacles; we adjust the pace to your liking.
