Duzdağ Cave and Ashab-ı Kehf-Daily Tour

  • 8 Hours Tour
  • Cable Car Ride
  • lunch
    Tasty Lunch Included

With the first step into crystal-scented air, your chest expands and your breathing deepens at Duzdağ. This means only one thing: gently meeting nature with a calm rhythm, helping you greet the morning gently.

The basis of speleotherapy is the constant temperature and low humidity of the cave; the microclimate given off by the salt crystals refreshes your respiratory tract. The ionized air, in concert with a slow-paced walk, relaxes your body. You will be surprised, in the silence of the cave, at how easily you can concentrate in just a few minutes.

At Duzdağ Physical Therapy Center, you will be informed about the practices under the guidance of our expert team. Speleotherapy rooms, rest areas, and information boards introduce the scientific basis of the method in simple language. A short introductory tour will leave you feeling compelled to return.

The route leads to Ashab-ı Kehf Cave in the afternoon, where belief and narrative are imbued into the very fabric of the stone. In following the legend, your steps on the path become calm. A natural silence opens for prayer and contemplation as you stand before the threshold.

The flavors of the day follow the theme: You will be seated at Duzdağ for a light and balanced menu, fresh salads and local grains, well-cooked vegetables satisfying your stomach without overwhelming it. At a break in Ashab-ı Kehf, a hot cup of samovar tea will warm your hands while conversations melt peacefully.

If the sky is clear, a short star-gazing experience will gently wrap up the day, and you will lift your head and observe the brilliance of the night of Nakchivan. On the way back, the salt of the cave, the steam of the tea, and the serenity of the cave threshold come together as one memory. The mix of gentle nature and faith leaves you with a simple yet deep renewal.

Morning Welcome - Departure to Duzdağ

We’ll provide individual pickups from city center hotels between 8:00 and 8:30 AM, after which time our guide will send emergency and guide contact information to your phones. We will also provide water and wet wipes, and distribute headsets before leaving at 8:30 AM for Duzdağ. On the way, our guide will explain the region’s geology and its salt formations. After a while, we will finish the check-in procedures and fill out your health declaration form together.

Speleotherapy: 1st Session and Center Visit

We take a breath-adaptation break at the entrance of the cave between 9:15 and 10:00 AM. We start going down into the salt galleries, with a rhythmic walk, and start your first adaptation session in the constant temperature and low humidity. We leave for the Duzdağ Physical Therapy Center between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. We introduce you to the speleotherapy rooms and equipment; we will give you a short briefing from our expert physiotherapist and give recommendations for your personal pace.

Speleotherapy: Session 2 and Healthy Lunch

We will reincorporate the second underground session from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, combining deeper breathing with walking. You will then relax on the benches where, upon exit, we will greet you with a warm drink to align your body with the surface. The Duzdağ healthy menu is presented for lunch from 12:30 to 01:45 PM. Menu composition includes soup, white meat/vegetarian options, and steamed vegetables. We will also mention allergens and remind you about replenishing fluids.

We return to the city center between 04:00 PM and 05:00 PM. In the car, a summary of the day will be shared with you, and a speleotherapy breathing exercise file will be sent for you to practice at home. Between 08:30 PM and 09:15 PM, in case of clear weather, we take a short trip to a terrace with low light pollution for a stargazing activity. We will point out several constellations with the naked eye and offer a hot drink.

FAQ

Is Duzdağ Cave suitable for those with breathing problems?

Yes, speleotherapy can help relieve respiratory problems; however, we ask that you obtain a doctor’s approval before arriving and bring any current medications with you.

I have confined space anxiety. How long will we stay in the cave?

Each descent takes 25–30 minutes; with a guide, you can stay in the areas near the entrance and exit immediately if needed. We will never leave you alone.

What should I wear, and what is the temperature?

The temperature inside the cave is constant and feels cool. We recommend light-layered clothing, comfortable shoes, and a light jacket. We will take care of headlamps and reflectors.

What will we see at the Physical Therapy Center?

We will tour the salt rooms, relaxation areas, and information boards together. We will monitor the program times while you ask your questions to the expert physiotherapist.

How do you manage allergens in the lunch menu?

We will explain every ingredient on the menu, and gluten-free, vegetarian, and low-salt options are available. If you have any special concerns, just let us know in advance.

Can I take photos at Ashhab-ı Kehf?

You can take photos at suitable angles in the exterior and trail sections with the guidance of a guide. Because we must respect the silence inside, we prefer short, flash-free shots.

Is there a dedicated time for prayer and contemplation?

During the visit, we keep the explanation brief and leave you some personal time. We ensure crowd management and maintain silence during this time.

Is stargazing mandatory?

If the sky is clear, we conduct a short observation in the evening. If there are clouds, we send a portable sky map and a simple observation guide to your phone.

What does the tour cost?

Transportation, guidance, two cave sessions, a healthy Duzdağ menu lunch, and samovar tea are included. Personal expenses and additional treatments are evaluated separately.

What precautions do you take for health and safety?

Vehicles and equipment are checked daily, and we monitor your time and heart rate in the cave. We provide your emergency contact information at the beginning of the tour, and keep the first aid kit readily available.
