Ağrı Tour of Turkey from Nakhchivan-3 Day Tour

  • 8 Hours Tour
  • Cable Car Ride
  • lunch
    Tasty Lunch Included

As we leave Nakhchivan and head towards Ağrı, the border stories and fresh mountain air are coming with us. The landscape is changing with each bend of the road and our curiosity is growing accordingly. From the very first hours of the journey, a feeling of “I am glad I started this journey” is finding its place.

We are being welcomed by Doğubayazıt at the gate; centuries breathe under the shade of stone. İshak Pasha Palace’s arches, courtyards, and high viewpoints keep the camera in our hands. Suddenly, the distance between us and history is getting shorter.

Mount Ararat settles onto the horizon and leads us through the day. While the light touches the slopes, a new scene is appearing at every moment. This silent grandeur leaves a strong signature in our memories.

We are taking a break in roadside restaurants with tandır bread, hearty meat dishes and steaming hot tea. The warm “welcome” we hear at the table makes us forget our tiredness. Our conversations with local shopkeepers whisper the spirit of the place into our ears.

With comfortable accommodation and transportation, we are focused on discovery. We visit each stop calmly, not in a rush as if chasing the schedule, and wake up at the end of the day fresh, with all our power to enjoy yet another day of exploration.

This route is designed for the traveler who wants to get close to the local culture, meet nature, and collect strong photos. FAQ

What might interest me on this tour?

The stonework of the İshak Pasha Palace and the view of Mount Ararat from its terraces, the serene atmosphere of the Ahmed-i Hani Tomb, the impressive formation of the Meteor Crater, a walk along the shores of Balık Lake, and a thermal spa at the Diyadin Hot Springs are highlights. Sunset light and vantage points that bring the palace and mountain silhouettes together provide unforgettable shots.

What kind of food awaits me?

Abdigör köfte (meatballs) are the star attraction; stone-ground beef shank is served in meatball form with rice. Tandır kebab, sac kavurma (a type of flatbread), hangel (a dish made from Ağrı dough), and helisé (a type of flatbread) enrich the table. Ayran aşı (a type of soup) makes a pleasant start. Tandır bread, kete, and katmer (a type of flatbread) go well for breakfast, and cheese and butter create a delicious balance.

Is the tour pace strenuous?

The route is light to moderate. Short walks, comfortable breaks, and transportation by car are planned in a balanced way. We aim to maximize the day without tiring you out.

Will I be able to see Mount Ararat clearly?

A wide panorama awaits you at the high points around Doğubayazıt. Your guide will take you to the observation deck when the light is best, so you can see clearly.

What is the hot spring experience like?

You relax in the thermal pools in Diyadin. At the entrance, your guide will guide you about the duration and intervals. Bringing a swimsuit, slippers, and a towel will increase your comfort.

Why are we going to Balık Lake, and what's there? Is it swimmable?

This high-altitude lake, originating from a lava field, is a good hiking and photo opportunity with its clear water and calm air. You can take a short trail along the shore and capture the scenery. There are no official beaches or lifeguarded areas for swimming; the water is very cold and deep, even in summer. For safety reasons, swimming is not recommended; coastal walks, picnic spots, and birdwatching are more suitable.

Would I feel lonely if I went alone?

No. The guide and small group structure facilitate socializing. The seating arrangements and flow of activities foster new friendships.

Is the guide's explanation sufficient at historical sites?

Yes. At the Ishak Pasha Palace and the Ahmed-i Hani Tomb, you’ll receive a clear explanation covering the architecture, history, and stories. Your questions will be answered on-site.

How do pickup and drop-offs work? Is there a risk of getting lost?

We pick you up from your hotel lobby every morning and drop you off at the end of the program in the evening. Pick-up times are clear; the guide will provide guidance via announcements and text messages throughout the day.

What should I bring to make the tour more enjoyable?

Comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket, sun protection, a water bottle, and a portable charger will enhance the experience. A lightweight tripod is also recommended for photography enthusiasts.
