Nakhchivan Georgia Tour-2 Day Tour

  • 8 Hours Tour
  • Cable Car Ride
  • lunch
    Tasty Lunch Included

We leave behind Nakhchivan and are greeted first by the silhouettes of the Caucasus Mountains. On the way, photo stops and local flavors grow our curiosity bit by bit. Once we cross the border, the road opens into a completely new story.

Once we get to Tbilisi, stone streets and old houses with wooden balconies welcome us in. We will be heading to Narikala Fortress, watching the city lights and exploring the panorama drawn by the bridges over Kura River. Wine tastings and live music round off the day with a sweet note.

Next morning, we go to Kakheti and enter into very old vineyards. The story of the wines matured in clay vessels, so-called kvevri, is reflected in every glass we taste. Around the table at family-run wineries, the warmth of genuine hospitality can be felt.

Colorful window frames and stone walls are giving us romantic pause in Sighnaghi. We look out from its terraces over the Alazani Valley, where time appears to stand still. Short walks along the cobble-stoned streets are enriched by stalls full of handmade crafts.

Batumi is adding a sea breeze to our journey on the Black Sea coast. The rhythm of the walk is set by palm trees along the boulevard, modern squares, and the lively atmosphere of the nearby Turkish border. We catch our breath on the bright white shore in the evening, watching light shows right from the sea.

Further, we might stop on the way back in Mtskheta to feel its sacred atmosphere, or in Borjomi, to refresh ourselves with its mineral waters. At the end of these two days, we are packing into the suitcase not only souvenirs but also memories collected all along the road. Thus, this journey, which started in Nakhchivan, turns into a clear picture in our mind with the warmth of Tbilisi, vineyard scents of Kakheti, and sea breeze of Batumi.

Tour Program

Day 1-Tiflis City Tour

Hotel Pick-Up

We will pick you up from your hotel at 6:30 AM and, after the border formalities are completed, drive towards Tbilisi. Our first stop is where we take it easy in the morning with fresh-brewed tea, filter coffee, and homemade cookies. Along the way, your guide will explain today’s plans in detail. As we enter the city, a short panoramic stop will help you get used to Tbilisi’s stone texture and skyline.

Breakfast

We are taking the breakfast break in the Old Town at 9:30 AM. You see imeruli khachapuri, penovani khachapuri, layered achma, and omelette with sautéed mushrooms on the table. They are served with sulguni cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers; a bunch of fresh herbs; and homemade jams. For drinks, Borjomi or Nabeghlavi mineral water, Turkish coffee, or brewed black tea are recommended.

Lunch

We sit down for lunch at 13:00 PM. You are trying khinkali–steamed dumplings with beef or mixed filling, spicy chashushuli, lobio served in clay pots, and mchadi corn bread. The table is shared with pkhali-herb and walnut spreads, badrijani nigvzit-walnut-stuffed eggplant rolls, and a plate of pickles. For drink pairing, we recommend white Rkatsiteli or red Saperavi. Non-alcoholic options could be Tarkhuna tarragon drink or Natakhtari lemonade. For dessert, we end with purple pelamushi and slices of churchkhela.

City Tour

We begin the city tour at 10:45 AM and drive along a route that will take us to Metekhi Church, the Sulfur Baths, the Bridge of Peace, and the Rezo Gabriadze Clock Tower. We will make short stops for photos in narrow streets upon your guide’s suggestion. Next, we go up by cable car to Narikala Fortress at 12:15 PM and enjoy the Kura River, the silhouette of the city, and carved wood balconies. During the ride back, you have an opportunity to look at handicrafts in small shops reflecting local decorative arts.

National Museum - Free Time

At 14:30 PM, we are taking you to the Georgian National Museum for a compact cultural visit to see the gold treasures and the archaeology halls. At 16:00 PM, we give free time along the Kura River, and recommend roasted hazelnut and walnut stands for a quick snack. A relaxed coffee break under the shade of historic houses will help you wind down and get ready for the evening.

Dinner & Return To Hotel

We sit down to dinner at 19:00 PM. The menu consists of: kharcho soup, grilled beef shish, roasted vegetables, and a fresh herb salad. Those so inclined may enjoy a small tasting glass of amber wine made in kvevri. For non-drinkers, we have homemade lemonade or fruit compote. For dessert, a slice of cinnamon-scented nazuki with hot tea makes for a nice finish. At 21:00 PM, we drive to Mtatsminda Hill for a short sunset visit. After a photo break with city lights below, we will take you back to your hotel at 22:15 PM.

Day 2-Batum City Tour

At 6:30 AM, we are picking you up from the hotel and driving along the Black Sea coast to Batumi. On the way, we are sharing a road-breakfast pack with sandwiches, fruit and filter coffee. As we get closer to the city, your guide is explaining the walking pace and the main stops of the day.

Boulevard & City Discovery

At 11:00 AM, we are starting our walk along the Batumi Boulevard. Our main stops are the Alphabet Tower, the Ali & Nino statue, and Europe Square. We are taking a short ice cream break in the sea breeze, and you are following a pleasant route along the seaside bike path.

Lunch

We are going to take a lunch break around 12:30 PM in the Piazza Square. From the oven, Acharuli khachapuri is coming to the table in its boat shape with butter and egg. For those who love seafood, we recommend grilled anchovies or rock sea bass fillet. Salads are well-balanced, with fresh rocket, tomatoes, and a lemon dressing. As for drinks, we recommend Nabeghlavi or Borjomi mineral water; for fans of dairy products, matsoni is a refreshing option. Gozinaki with honey and hazelnuts and creamy kada are the desserts for today.

Botanical Garden & Cable Car

At 14:00 PM, we go to Mtsvane Kontskhi Botanical Garden. We have an easy walk along the coastal paths. Plants from different climate zones and Black Sea views come together in the same frame. At 16:00 PM, we have a coffee break near the Old Port with freshly baked layered achma as a snack. At 16:30 PM, we go to the Argo cable car, where the coastline and mountain line open up in a wide panorama from the hilltop.

FAQ

What time will we be picked up and when will we return?

On the day of the tour, we’ll pick you up from your hotel at 6:30 AM and drive you to Tbilisi after crossing the border. On the second day, we’ll pick you up at 21:00 PM and drop you off at your hotel overnight. In case of traffic or border congestion, the route will be clarified on site.

How much should I pack?

One medium-sized suitcase + one small backpack per person is ideal, depending on the vehicle’s luggage plan. For day hikes, we recommend carrying only water, a wallet, a phone, and a light coat.

What to eat and what are the beverage pairings?

In Tbilisi, khinkali, khachapuri, lobio, badrijani, and pkhali are popular dishes; in Batumi, Acaruli khachapuri, grilled fish, and fresh green salads are delightful. For wine lovers, Saperavi (red) and Rkatsiteli (white) are excellent choices; for the non-alcoholic side, we recommend Borjomi/Nabeghlavi mineral water, Tarkhuna, or homemade lemonade.

What's included in the desserts?

Churchkhela as an appetizer, pelamushi for the main dessert, oven-baked nazuki, and katkat achma are good options. In Batumi, gozinaki (honey and hazelnuts) and kada (creamy pastry) are common on the menu.

Are vegetarian, halal, and gluten-free options catered for?

For vegetarian guests, pkhali, badrijani, oven-baked vegetables, and salads are available. Halal meat availability is planned according to the restaurant selection; for gluten-free guests, cornbread mchadi and meat-and-vegetable platters offer practical solutions. Please inform your preference when booking.

What is the walking pace and difficulty level?

The target daily walk is 8,000–10,000 steps on cobblestone paths in the Old City. Cable car exits are included in the itinerary; short breaks are provided on steep slopes. We recommend comfortable sneakers.

How do payment, currency, and tip work?

The currency (Lari) is GEL. Large establishments accept cards. It’s helpful to keep some cash for small shops. If there’s no service line on your bill, a small tip is always appreciated.

What are the internet, outlet, and charging systems like?

Hotels and many other venues offer Wi-Fi; you can purchase a local SIM/eSIM if you prefer. The outlet type is C/F, and the voltage is 220V. An adapter with multiple USB ports is handy.

Photography, places of worship, and bathhouse rules?

Flashlights are turned off in worship areas; in some areas, a headscarf or a shawl covering the shoulders may be required. Towels and slippers are provided in sulfur baths; permission is requested beforehand for photography.

Water, restroom breaks, and health tips?

Regular breaks are planned throughout the day. We recommend carrying bottled water and balancing it with sparkling water or herbal tea at lunch and dinner. It’s also a good idea to include your personal medications, a small set of bandages, and a lightweight raincoat in your bag.
