The Imamzadeh Tomb is a religious-historical complex from the 18th century, situated southeast of Nakhchivan on Azadliq Street. If you are going by taxi from the city center, it will take approximately 5-10 minutes. People using public transportation can easily reach it by minibus or shared taxi on the same route.

Hours: Tuesday–Friday 10:00–18:00, Saturday–Sunday 10:00–17:00. It is closed on Mondays. Entry is free, an optional donation box is inside.

The monument is composed of three adjacent structures: the square-plan main tomb, the polygonal body rising above it, and the side volumes. Repeated “Allah” inscriptions in red and dark purple on the brick surfaces give the structure its unique character. Construction of the tomb began in 1722, was completed in 1732, and a comprehensive restoration in 2004 brought it to its current appearance.

The tomb in the center of the mausoleum does not have a definitive inscription identifying its owner. Due to the fact that local historical tradition attributes this tomb to the son of Imam Reza, the structure is called “Imamzadeh.” The western part of the complex functioned as the family cemetery of the Nakhchivan khans.

Mosque etiquette is observed during visits. Women are asked to cover their heads, and men are asked not to enter the interior with shorts or revealing clothes. Loud conversation is prohibited inside, nobody can walk around the tomb, and the peace of those praying is respected.

Photography is allowed in the outer courtyard. Photography inside requires permission of an official. Filming of people praying is off-limits without prior permission.

This is a family-friendly complex; the area is clean and monitored. Visitors with disabilities can easily enter the courtyard, but to go inside, assistance is required as there are steps.

By visiting this route, it is possible to easily see the other historical sites in the city center, like the Mümine Hatun Mausoleum, Yusuf ibn Küseyir Mausoleum, the Khan Palace, and the Tomb of the Prophet Noah, all within the same day. This route enables you to experience the religious and historical heritage of Nakhchivan in a short time.
